NICK CANNON and MARIAH CAREY
Lean on Me: How Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are there for each other during tough times. When Nick and Mariah secretly got married on a Bahamas beach in 2008, just about everyone went "huh?" They had been dating less than two months and vowed to spend the rest of their lives together, prompting skeptics to wonder if this was yet another spontaneous, short-lived Hollywood fling. Whenever Mariah was asked whether her relationship with Nick was legit, she responded by saying that peoples' doubts are always erased when they see her and Nick together.
These aren't just words. Mariah and Nick have stood by one another through some difficult times. And, with Nick being in and out of the hospital for kidney failure, Mariah has literally been by his side, sitting on his hospital bed and looking after his needs. He was then hospitalized on February 17, 2012 for blood clots in his lungs. On Monday, March 5, 2012 he announced that he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called lupus nephritis, which was the cause of his recent kidney problems. It's a relationship of give and take, support and love.
On April 30, 2011, the couple's third wedding anniversary, Carey gave birth to fraternal twins. They named their daughter Monroe Cannon (after Marilyn Monroe), and their son Moroccan Scott Cannon (because Cannon proposed to Carey in her Moroccan-style room: Scott is Cannon's middle name and his grandmother's maiden name; Monroe doesn't have a middle name as Mariah herself doesn't have one). Mariah has referred to the twins with the nicknames "Roc and Roe" (Rock and Roll).
