Just what does it feel like to have two of the most influential people in the world of music entertainment as parents? You may want to ask Taro Ono, Japanese name of Sean Taro Ono Lennon. He is the son of the late great English and Irish descent, John Lennon, a founding member of The Beatles and Japanese artist, author and peace activist Yoko Ono. He was five years old when his father was murdered and has limited recollection of him. But that did not stop the fact that the English and Irish blood of his famed father runs deep within him. Like both of his parents, Sean has had a natural affinity for music from the day he was born. Sean was born on John’s birthday and thus the two share the same birthdate.

From childhood into his teen years he collaborated with his mother, Yoko Ono, contributing vocals and receiving production credit on her solo albums. At age 16, Sean co-wrote the song “All I Ever Wanted” with Lenny Kravitz for his 1991 album “Mama Said” and formed a backing band for his mother’s album “Rising” in 1995.

Much like his parents who were pioneers for peace and change in the 60’s and 70’s, the legacy continues- Sean expresses his passion for it through his music and in his activism. He recently supported “Occupy Wall Street of 2011,” with his band and has been quoted saying, “peace is a good thing, and so is salmon when it’s smoked.

Sean Lennon lives in New York City.
